RCRN is an internet web2.0 community using voice, chat and video to share ideas and experiences. Through this network I have met a range of people who I probably would have never met in other circles – I am thankful for those experiences:-

An abstract tale to remind us of subjectivity – We may be aware of how people have different views of the worlds yet in order to survive we subconsciously build imaginary pictures of others within our minds. Are we individuals or do we share common traits? If so, could a dog judge a cat?

CATS AND DOGS

A child came up to me in the street this morning and asked if I'd seen his dog. It was mongrel with a grey coat, black ears and answered to the name of ‘Henry'. I looked at the young man and shook my head. “Sorry” I said “I've not seen him at all”. He shrugged his shoulder and walked on, asking the next person in the street…

On my way home I past a tree and to my surprised came upon a dog with the very same markings as had been described to me earlier. I bent down a little and called out “Henry!?” The dogs head tilted to one side and he casually got up and walked towards me…

We talked for a while. About the trees and the grass, birds and sticks. These seemed to be Henry's favourite topics of discussion. Until I mentioned an internet radio show I frequented. Although he was not a big internet user, he had occasionally browsed on Ebay and dabbled once with online stock trading… Quite an achievement for a dog with no formal education I thought.

Anyway, I digress – Upon mentioning Real Coaching Radio. Henry's ears lifted high in to the air and he began asking all manner of questions. What did we talk about, who was there, why did I go there…. The usual curiosity.

Then Henry said something I will never forget. He looked directly at my face and told me, without the blink of an eye. “You know Alex – Everyday I watch people running from place to place. Most of the time they don't even know where they're going… It's as if the world's being run by cats.” I nodded my head in agreement – wise words indeed I thought…
